Exactly thirty years ago on this date, Pro Patria recorded the first demo of “Hard Times”, the track that would become their most popular song to date. “Hard Times” became the signature track of the band’s first official demo (Spasmaticae) in 1993 and an updated version was also published on the second demo (Militaria) in 1994. Eventually Pro Patria recorded the final version in 1996 for their debut album “Quod Erat Demonstrandum”.
It is less known that there exists a unique version from 1998 with… a female co-singer!
"Death of a Friend" gets a special acoustic version!

The fugue is the most complex musical structure ever invented and it has always been my ambition to try to make one. The theme from “Death of a Friend” was simply begging me to use it for this purpose and on “Executioner” you’ll also find an earlier attempt to construct the introduction of a fugue as a hidden bonus with the same theme. So, after months of building themes, answers and counterpoints (and a lot of sweat and sleepless nights), here‘s my – very humble – attempt with a wink to the great master. Four voices, double counterpoint.

“Story of a Boy” is a brand new Pro Patria track. It’s a bit different from the rest because it was made to ask some attention for the many male victims of domestic violence, men who often have nowhere to turn to because no-one will take them seriously.
It will be included as a bonus on our next album, but in the meantime we hope that you enjoy the video.

Back to Basics has been remastered!

I know that my 2017 return album, was received with mixed feelings, mostly because it was mastered terribly which made the sound much harsher than I intended. I preferred to learn the dark arts of mixing and mastering myself rather than always depend on others, but I had seriously underestimated how hard it actually is to get the sound right. I’ve tried to rectify that and the work is now finished. Hopefully you’ll give this album a second chance.

Pro Patria is proud to announce the digital release of its 4th full album “Godless” on February 24th!
This release contains 14 brand new tracks and will be the band’s hardest and most direct album to date.
